Due to a Presidential Executive Order, the U.S. Attorney General has designated POST and the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police as Independent Credentialing Bodies to certify law enforcement agencies as meeting certain criteria for U.S. Department of Justice discretionary grant funds. Through discussions with the Colorado Associations of Police, it was decided that POST should take on this role for the state. POST is developing the certification process and will distribute to the law enforcement agencies.

- What is our agency’s EIN and where can I locate the EIN?
The Employer Identification Number, also known as the Federal Employer Identification Number or the Federal Tax Identification Number, is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service to business entities operating in the United States for the purposes of identification. You can locate your EIN on your confirmation letter from the IRS, old tax returns, old business loan applications, your business credit report, or payroll paperwork. Someone in your agency’s Finance Dept should have this information for you.
- What is our agency’s DUNS and where can this information be located?
The DUNS number is a unique nine-digit number used to identify your organization. The federal government uses the DUNS number to track how federal money is allocated. Your Agency’s DUNS can be located on this site: https://www.dnb.com/duns-number.html.
- What is the DAN at the bottom of the notary signature?
DAN means the unique document authentication number issued by the Secretary of State and required by section 24-21-520(3), C.R.S., for electronic notarizations. A notary must also include his or her notary identification number in the electronic notarization.
